GREEN SQUARE COPENHAGEN – OVER 50 ÅRS PASSION FOR ANTIKVITETER OG DESIGN
✓ In stock (1 available)
Large unique floor vase from Grimstrup ceramics, signed "E.J 1937" on the base. Height: 58 cm.
Made in ceramic with glaze in a beautiful palette of blue, yellow and natural white shades.
The decoration is executed in an abstract and cubist style, marked by geometric forms, curved lines and stylised patterns. The design appears modern and experimental for 1937 and gives a sophisticated and timeless expression, even after almost 90 years.
The inside is glazed with a deep blue glaze, which stands in beautiful contrast to the subdued shades on the outside. The large size and slender form give the vase an elegant and monumental presence.
Probably a unique and early piece from Grimstrup Keramik, a Danish ceramics company with roots in Næstved. The company later became known for its production in the mid-20th century.
Grimstrup Keramik was run by Hans Axel Schjelde, who began his career as a ceramist at the age of 54 after many years as a baker. The company was active from the 1950s onwards and moved the workshop to Maribo around the 1970s.
