GREEN SQUARE COPENHAGEN – OVER 50 ÅRS PASSION FOR ANTIKVITETER OG DESIGN
✓ In stock (1 available)
Iconic desk, model 36, designed by Severin Hansen (also known as Erik Riisager Hansen) and produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri in 1958.
Made in veneered Rio rosewood with an exceptionally beautiful and lively grain that highlights the wood's deep warm colors and natural character.
The desk is fitted with four spacious drawers with original brass key escutcheons and matching keys. The simple apron and elegantly tapered legs underline the table's light and refined expression.
The harmonious proportions and precise cabinetmaking make the model an outstanding example of Danish furniture design from the 1950s, where functionality and aesthetics merge into a higher unity.
The Rio rosewood appears particularly well preserved with a striking and almost symmetrical grain on the tabletop. The desk has been gently refinished and is in perfect condition.
Denmark, 1958.
Erik Severin Risager-Hansen (1936–2020) worked both under his own name and under the name Severin Hansen. The two names cover the same designer, who deliberately used different signatures depending on the context – including in relation to production, collaborators and design lines.
This has subsequently created some confusion in the market, but is today a recognized part of his work. Common to both names is the high quality, the precise cabinetmaking and the sure sense of proportion, which places his furniture firmly in the tradition of Danish modernism.
