Description

Pair of English Lancashire ladderback armchairs made in solid oak with original woven rush/bast seats. The chairs have the characteristic high back with shaped, transverse rungs (ladderback), which gives an elegant and light expression.

The simple construction, the natural materials and the visible craftsmanship connect the chairs to the ideals that later became central to the Arts & Crafts movement.

Turned front legs and armrests emphasize the classic craftsmanship.
Appears in good original condition with natural, age-related patina, which adds to their charm and history.
