Ib Braun (1933–2003)
Unique sculpture of a seated woman
Outstanding ceramic sculpture made in fired clay by the Danish sculptor Ib Braun. The figure depicts a seated woman who, with a characteristic expression, lifts the veil from her face – a motif that testifies to Braun's interest in the human and in the meditatively still moment.
Signed: BRAUN
NB: There is an older, discreet repair on the underside of the sculpture, only visible when it is turned over (see photo).
Ib Braun:
Ib Braun (1933–2003) was a Danish sculptor and ceramist. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts' School of Painting and Sculpture and was a pupil of the acclaimed sculptor Gottfred Eickhoff. His works radiate a calm strength and a deep human presence, characterized by a simple, sensuous formal language.
