Gustavian secretary cabinet, Sweden ca. 1780–1790

Beautiful Gustavian secretary cabinet made of oak in a decorative light blue shade with fine patina.

The cabinet is built in two parts with an upper cabinet with a profiled top cornice and finely carved dentil moldings.
The two paneled doors are elegantly framed by profiled edges and open to a practically arranged space with shelves and dividers, including notches originally used for silver cutlery.

The lower part has a sloping fall front, which opens to an interior in light grey. Here is a well-arranged section with numerous small drawers and a central cabinet with decorative geometric carving.

Below the fall front is a drawer with a refined, carved Greek key border, and below that three spacious drawers.

The piece is finished at the bottom with fluted legs and a decoratively carved center piece.

A charming and well-proportioned secretary cabinet with beautiful patina and original brass fittings, hinges, iron locks and key.

Sweden, ca. 1780-1790.
